Hurricane Milton’s outer rain bands are coming onshore near Tampa to Sarasota now and the eye of the hurricane will come onshore by tonight. The forecast has Miami-Dade receiving tropical storm winds between 20 – 40 miles per hour with some rain bands coming through this afternoon.

Trax offices will be closed on Wednesday & Thursday with the entire team working remotely. On Friday, once the Tropical Storm Warnings are lifted, Trax will reopen its Headquarters.

Traxers will continue to work remotely Wednesday & Thursday, as Miami-Dade & Broward Counties have announced that schools will remain closed through Thursday.

Milton is due to arrive 36 to 48 hours from now. Miami-Dade is expected to receive 40-60 miles per hour winds and rain with a mild surge in ocean levels.

Both Miami-Dade & Broward County have made announcements of their closing schedules.

Trax will be closed on Wednesday as both County Schools will be closed.

We intend to resume office operation on Thursday morning if the roads are navigable. Traxers living in Broward can work remote on Thursday as the “Broward County Schools” will be closed and the Miami-Dade County Schools plan for now is to reopen on Thursday.

The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Warning and Flood Watch for Miami-Dade County due to possible impact from rains or winds associated with Hurricane Helene as it passes to the west of South Florida.  These will remain in effect through Thursday evening.  Miami-Dade County operations remain normal.

As of 4am, here in Coral Gables there are sporadic gusts of wind. MIA remains operational with the only flights cancelled are from Tampa or to Atlanta.

Trax remains open as long as Miami-Dade Schools remain open. If the schools in your County of residence announce a hurricane-related closure, then you are to work remotely if you took your work computer home. If you do not have your work computer with you. The Broward School district announced at 8pm last night their closure of all Broward County Schools.

Remember, Safety First! There are heavy rain bands that appear to be making their way towards Miami and Broward. If you live in a flood-prone area do not risk your safety or damage to your vehicle. If you left your corporate laptop, notify your supervisor and visit myTrax for VPN instructions.

Thus far neither school districts have announced closures but they typically do so later in the evening before the closure.

Southeastern Florida is now in the clear of the storm as Tropical Storm Debbie makes landfall in Florida’s Big Bend.

The outer bands are occasionally passing through Miami-Dade & Broward counties.

This is the last storm update. The ERT and EOC is being deactivated in accordance with our Business Continuity Plan.
